Side Rant:

When you get on a healthy food schedule, and keep to that food schedule, a miraculous thing happens - (or at least it did for me) your body gets on a schedule.

For example (warning - possible TMI) since I have lost weight, my period is on a normal schedule. 25 days after the start of my last period, I start again. Now, while I'd prefer it to push the 28 day mark, I am VERY happy in that I can plan exactly when I am going to start. And I do, every time. It starts the same time, it lasts as long as it did last time, and I feel tons better during (no cramps, etc.) I was up .5 pounds this morning, and I knew why. Welcome to 25 days later.

Now - on the flip side - you realize quickly when you do stupid things. Case in point: I'm at Walmart the other day, perusing the aisles, and I come upon this-

Now you may be asking in your head, "Hey Rae, you've lost 175 pounds, why in this world would you feel the need to pick up weight loss tea? You obviously know how to lose weight." And the answer is - you're right, I have no idea, most likely because I'm fucked up in the head. Anyway, I buy this shit a few days ago, and have been drinking a cup a day.

BAD IDEA. Just so you know - for the first time IN OVER A YEAR (and that was because I picked up a virus for god's sake) - it had me running to the bathroom EVERY SINGLE DAY. It didn't happen concurrently (meaning I didn't drink the tea and immediately run to the bathroom - it took a few hours), so the slow me took a few days to put together - but I didn't have the tea today and miraculously (duh) I'm back to normal.

Moral of the story: listen to your body and don't do stupid things. But at least because I now have this nice symbiotic relationship with my body - I can spot and manage things easier now.

Dinner: (450 calories)
Mexi-cobb salad, no cheese, salsa dressing
Diet Pepsi! (a treat!)
Dessert: (80 calories)
1 scoop Lemon Ice from Culvers (delish!)
Total calories: 1280! Done!

  1. Your breakfast looks really good..I haven't had peanut butter in over a month and haven't had oatmeal in a long time.

  2. I went to Sam's Club yesterday and spent $197. (yikes) All forms of nuts tempt me, and I spent a while looking at a bag of cashews. Finally I walked away. Almonds get me, too, but cashews are the big draw for me. Peanuts and peanut butter - well, they are also among my favorites.

    1. I have to be really really really careful with the nuts and peanut butter. I only allow myself that teaspoon of PB in the morning (I tried almond butter but just didn't have that taste I like so well..) and I have to get pre-portioned almonds. It is definitely one "health" item I can easily go overboard on without realizing it.

  3. Hello,

I came over from Allan's blog to say way to go on the food/photo challenge. Love the photo of the mexicobb salad. That looks so delish. One of the things I hope to accomplish with clean eating is to have a more normal schedule for that time of month.

Hope you have a great weekend

  4. In a desperate moment, I almost bought that damned Dieters Tea, so glad I didn't.

    Your salad looks amazing, yum!

  5. Hello! Found you from Allan's blog and wanted to say hi!! That oatmeal looks delicious!!

  6. Hi Rae! I always pick up dieter's tea too, knowing very well that it's the magical promise I really want. :D

Cocoa roast almonds look awesome. Your salads look great.

    :-) Marion

  7. That mexicob salad looks AWESOME. Did you make that yourself?? I love love love avocado...i might totally steal this idea.

  8. **Snort** The dieter's tea reminds me, I have a funny story to tell on my ex-husband...
Years ago, when we were young & foolish - I was a good 60 lbs lighter than I am now, but still thought I needed to lose 20 lbs!!! - I had a box of this Dieter's Tea in our pantry.
Hubby came upon it & made an ENTIRE PITCHER, drank about a quart himself. When I got home & saw the empty box, I realized what he had done - we poured the rest out but he had about 3 d of misery while that tea cleaned his pipes!

(Good job on your pix BTW)
