Green Coffee Extract

Okay, it's obvious from reading my blog that I do not buy into supplements or weight loss pills to lose weight. Likewise, Dr. Oz is usually focusing on disproving the weight loss magic pills. However, the other day on his show he actually promoted a supplement for weight loss. Check this out:

http://www.examiner.com/article/green-coffee-bean-extract-as-seen-on-dr-oz-could-be-a-great-weight-loss-pill

I'll fess up; I was hooked. I have bought 60 pills for $25.00 and I am excited about getting them. To get the benefits, you need two 400mg capsules per day. The sad part is the 60 pills will only last me 15 days. If I were to keep this supplement, it would cost me $50.00/month. Certainly less than weight loss programs, but I'm still not sold if I want to do this long term.

I can't wait to start and keep you up to date on the happenings. I'll let you know when I get them.

Not a bad end to April. I was one pound off my goal, but I did lose 8ish pounds this month. I'm going to kick up the exercise in May and set my goal at 201, but secretly I want 199!~

Disgusting.

I'm seeing more and more of these kinds of posts pop up on my Facebook, and it makes me sick. I mean really - these people who are supposed to be my friends are peddling this crap to me?

So breakfast consisted of 12 donut holes, and 2 chocolate covered long johns filled with custard. How much of that is going into my waistline......LOL!
The answer is very little thanks to the FatFighter with Carb Inhibitors from the IT WORKS company. Eat what you want and keep the weight off with all natural products.
Contact Leslie or myself for more info.
The sad part is I know some people probably fall for it. It just makes me want to respond hatefully, but I refrain.

Todd Wilbur’s Reduced-Calorie, Reduced-Fat Hot Artichoke Spinach Dip

Evidently I'm using my blog as my new cookbook. :)

Ingredients
Makes 1 1/2 cups (3 total servings)

1 cup chopped frozen artichoke hearts, thawed and diced
1/2 cup frozen chopped spinach, thawed
2 tbsp water
4 oz reduced-fat cream cheese
4 oz 2% Greek yogurt
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
2 tbsp low-fat milk
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1 pinch ground black pepper
1/2 tomato, diced

For Dipping
Crackers
Toasted bread
Pita chips
Raw sliced vegetables

Directions
Combine diced artichoke hearts and chopped spinach in a microwave-safe bowl with 2 tablespoons of water, cover bowl with plastic and poke a few holes in it to vent. Microwave vegetables on high for 6 minutes.

Combine remaining ingredients in a small saucepan. Add the steamed artichokes and spinach and place pan over medium/low heat, stirring often for 10 minutes or until simmering. Just before serving, you may wish to broil the dip in an oven-safe dish for 1 to 2 minutes (under high broil) or just until slightly brown on top. Arrange the diced tomato in a pile in the center of the dip and serve with crackers, toasted bread, pita chips or raw vegetables for dipping.

2.6 pounds to go for the month, I'm really excited. I can't even begin to tell you how much I want to see the 100's. I can't even remember the last time I did.

Perfect Paleo Mayo

I was reading FATGIRLslim and found a mayo recipe I want to try... so I thought I'd post it on my blog to remind myself. :)

I don't use mayo just in regular use anymore, but I do still like to have tuna/chicken/egg salad every now and again, and I thought home-made mayo would be better for me.

Just ignore the strange girl in the corner (it's just me!)!

Paleo Mayo

1 pasteurized egg
1 tsp lemon juice
1 tsp yellow mustard
1/2 tsp sea salt
1/4 tsp white pepper
1 cup light olive oil (not extra virgin, just light tasting) OR walnut oil

Put the egg, lemon juice, mustard, sea salt and white pepper in your blender and blend well. Then take the little peep hole top off your blender and slowly drizzle in your oil while blending. I just did this on low. Keep refrigerated. Also, be aware that it won't last forever in your refrigerator like store bought (preservative loaded) mayo. I usually just make what my family of 5 can use in a week.

I didn't have many posts last week because I didn't have much going on! Rather boring in this dieter's world. However I'm loving commenting on every one else's posts, I'm livin' vicariously though you guys!

The goal is 210 for the month... I think I can, I think I can, I think I can!

Have a great week!

At one point I saw 216 on the scale, I'm guessing my Easter celebration may have rebounded my loss just a little bit. And I'm okay with that, it's a loss!

I am switching 2 of my normal K-cups to green tea today, word is it revs up your metabolism. It's actually not half bad. Of course, I also had to pick up Rasberry Chocolate Truffle, haha. I'm so glad those things are calorie free.

My First 5K

I’m rather under-the-weather today, which I totally blame on exerting too much energy for my 5k. J
It was race day. The mini-marathon runners took off about fifteen minutes before the 5k’ers did. They lined us 5k’ers up; the runners in the front, the I-might-run-or-jog-or-walk’ers in the middle, and the certified walkers-only in the back. My sister and I were in the middle, waiting for the bell to ring.
I blame the early time and nerves, but I got a little slap-happy waiting for the bell. My sister was talking to a co-worker at the event, and I was perusing the crowd. There was an older lady beside of us. I do not exaggerate when I describe this woman: she was mid-50’s, wearing a sun dress and leather clogs, and she had a neck brace on. I leaned over to my sister and boldly exclaimed, “If we do anything today, we are going to beat that lady. That’s our goal.”
Bell rang.  We took off running/jogging, and my sister noticed that we could no longer find the woman in question. “Oh, she’s behind us,” I say. And sure enough, she was behind us. I use the term “was” fleetingly, because the next thing I see is a neck brace flying past us like we were walking.
My sister and I look at each other and bust out laughing. We increase our pace, and pass up neck-brace lady. We continue on this pace, and once again I see a neck brace go flying past us. At this point, we lost it. We knew we were going to get beaten by the neck-brace, sun-dress, leather-clog wearing lady. As we laughed, we heard a guy beside us exclaim to his wife, “See, even she’s passing us!”
We probably lost good time because we were laughing so hard. “You don’t get to pick our goals anymore,” she says.

A few quick notes: I didn't win the lottery (boo), I did finish the 5k (yay! ~ funny story on that tomorrow, when it isn't a crazy Monday), and the goal for April is 210.
