Life & *Sigh*

I am quickly getting things together for a business trip, my test results came back negative (no blood in my poop! yeah!), and the scale is FINALLY moving in a downward trend. Beyond that, the following is my soap box for the day. :)

For real, folks. What is wrong with our society today? Why do we work so hard to find diets and miracle cures when all we have to do is eat less and move more? Limit our calories, make those calories nutritiously count, and get off our fat butt’s for at least 30 minutes a day, every day. Instead we require AND PAY FOR:
Weight Watchers
Nutrasystem
Medifast
Slim Fast
The Subway Diet
The Starbucks Diet
The Cabbage Diet
Atkins Diet
90 Days to OMG! Diet
The Skinny Jeans Diet
LA Weight Loss

…and the list goes on and on. It’s called common sense, and everyone seems to be losing it these days. Big business, little business, hell even the shady at-home entrepreneurs are LAUGHING AT US. We spend our money to find that miracle cure, when we have it at our disposals for free all along.

*Sigh* /off soap box for the day

  1. Oh, you forgot the tube-feeding diet:http://abcnews.go.com/Health/diet-brides-feeding-tubes-rapidly-shed-pounds/story?id=16146271

Disgusting and sad... besides - "Limit our calories, make those calories nutritiously count, and get off our fat butt’s for at least 30 minutes a day, every day"

WHAT??? THAT requires WORK! NO. WAY.

  2. Preach it sister! I have paid for 3 of the above...and in the end, the only thing that has EVER worked and I've been able to maintain, is good old "eat less, move more".

  3. Oh, I know of a blog where the woman keeps doing the HCG diet; you know, the one where you get injected with pregnancy hormones and eat 500 calories a day and drop a bunch of weight in a couple of weeks. She is so confused about why she keeps gaining it back and then some once the magic part is over. *SMH*

This Starbucks thing happens w/various fast food or junk food "diets" from time to time. Sure, you can lose weight eating pre-fab factory food in small quantities, becoming quite malnourished in the processed.

  4. I agree for the most part (even though I am using weight watchers currently). I don't really lump Weight Watchers and MyFitnessPal with all the fad diets because you eat what you want, you just use WW or MFP as tools to help keep you in check.

I don't believe in cutting out certain food groups, or trying to only eat foods made by ____. Eat less/healthier and move more and you're on the right track!

  5. I have never heard of the Starbucks diet or about half of the ones on the list for that matter... craziness.

  6. I've always been successful at loosing weight on a plan (WW &Medifast) but I had to switch off those during transition to maintnence to primal/paleo. Totally clicked for me this time. Getting off processed foods for maintnence was key.

I was surprised that the librarian (Starbucks )was able to loose so much weight with a lack of variety of vegetables. I'd really be interested in the lab work Biomarkers ( healthy fat, CRP, HA1C) at the end of the Starbucks diet. I'm thinking the labs would not be so great.

Glad you are making your plan work for you, Rae Rae. You are doing awesomely great. Keep up the good work. Really really glad the poop test came back negative.
