Regrowing my fingernails.

Bear with me:  this will most likely be a long, rambling post. It was also divulge how crazy my thoughts  can be, as they are on a general basis.

So I’m getting ready this morning, and I’m cutting my fingernails – which gets me to thinking – why were our fingernails designed to just keep growing ? What’s up with that, God? Knowing full well we would not have the capacity to cut them, why create them so they kept growing?

Which, got me to thinking, obviously they break by the time they get too long. That managed to quell my inquisitiveness for a nanosecond, and then I realized that the people who grow their fingernails to World Record length really put some major effort into those things.

And then it hit me – those fingernail people – the ones everyone gawks at, takes pictures of, makes fun of, and everything else – those people are just like what I want to be. No, I don’t want to grow my fingernails to world record length. But I do want their dedication. That takes some serious  dedication, people.

So basically in this point in my weight loss, I’d say I’ve broken a fingernail. And while I still have 9 other fingernails that are perfectly fine, I know I still have to start back from the beginning. I am happily back in my routine, chugging along, and I’m at 174. It’s going to be a long year, but it is what it is and I have the dedication.
And, because you know I had to give you some kind of visual to this craziness...:

  1. At least you are dedicated to something that matters. I have never understood the fingernail thing - who cares? I guess it doesn't hurt anybody to do this but I don't see the point. I do see the point in being healthy and devoting energy to something that is worthwhile. How can she drive? How can she get dressed? How can she wipe her butt? Can you imagine reaching down into a toilet bowl with those? I know--TMI. Take care.

  2. Hi Rae, There is something you can buy to remend fingernails. Go to some place like Sally's Beauty Supply or Google it. I had a 80% ripped off fingernail and the manicurist put some glue on, then a power on it, then she buffed it, and it was all mended. And this mending lasted until I clipped them weeks later. Maybe you should get whatever she got. It would probably make your day. :D

  5. This is the most awesome kick in the pants I have read today! Wow I needed this. Not the crazy long fingernails...that creeps me out. But the dedication to do that?!?!? I WANT that. I NEED that.

    Thank you.

  6. OMG thank goodness for routines. I'm currently shaking mine up.

I'm, of course, familiar with the dedication to weight loss, but I cannot fathom how one would maintain nails that are longer than my hair!

  9. I'm currently in a place where I keep making excuses for my bad behavior. That isn't going to work long term. Thanks for reminding me that dedication to the cause will work for me and excuses will work against. me. :)
