Although this diet is making me come out of my shell bit by bit, I am not a gardener. I used to (and still do some) loathe the idea of the hard work in the garden. I do have to admit the idea is gaining ground with me, though, and I may just start one next year.
But I digress! A friend of mine posted this on Facebook today, and I thought it was the neatest thing, so I wanted to pass it along. (I'm hoping it's not one of those common knowledge things that you just kinda shake your head at me and laugh..)

I abosolutely adore green onions. I eat them with just about every sandwich. But the grocery at the end of the road never has them, so I always have to travel to the farther away grocery to get them, usually on my big grocery shopping day. I'm thinking about keeping these dandies at my work desk.
That is awesome. You can do that with fresh basil as well. I keep a mason jar of fresh basil in water in my kitchen window year round. If you keep it watered, it can last up to 2 months.
ReplyDeleteI had no idea you can do that with basil, too! How exciting! Thanks for letting me know!! :)
DeleteI'm growing green onions in my garden for the first time this year. I wonder if they will continue to grow in the soil if I just cut them instead of pull them up completely?
ReplyDeleteI'm inspired to pick up green onions this week!
ReplyDeleteI had no clue that you could do that! And I never thought to eat green onions on a sandwich like you do, sounds good!
ReplyDeleteAnd fresh mint too! I chop the leaves, mix with organic salted butter, and use as a spread for turkey or chicken sandwiches. Cheers!
